Oklahoma Provisional Sales Associate License requirements

Follow these steps in order. Deadlines and affiliation requirements can make a passed exam unusable if they are missed.

   Not Texas 180. Not Arkansas 60. Confirm providers on oklahoma.gov/orec. Calendar the three-year certificate fuse from the completion date.

   Sit Pearson (combo $75 two-for-one): 80 national / 150 min and 40 state / 90 min at 70% scaled

   Unlimited attempts inside the one-year authorization. Bring a government photo ID matching the Pearson profile. OnVUE exists; confirm live.

   Pick a sponsoring broker in the OREC portal and pay issuance (FAQ $100 PSA)

   Then start — do not start before — the 45-hour postlicense. File evidence before the first PSA expiration or 858-302(E) ends the credential.

Minimum age

18 years old

Identification

A Social Security number is required. An ITIN is not confirmed as a substitute.

Residency and identification

Age 18 (59 O.S. § 858-302). Pearson handbook: U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident. Oklahoma residency is not independently required; out-of-state applicants designate an Oklahoma resident as registered agent. Driver license / Social Security card is not proof of citizenship on the 2026 checklist — use a U.S. birth certificate or a signed U.S. passport, or another document OREC lists as evidence of citizenship.

Qualifying education

59 O.S. § 858-302 and the 2026 Applicant Checklist: evidence of successful completion of ninety (90) clock hours or its equivalent in basic real estate instruction in a Commission-approved course of study. The certificate is valid three (3) years from the date of completion; thereafter the applicant must complete another 90. That 90 is the Oklahoma Basic / salesperson prelicense — not Texas 180, not Arkansas 60, not Kansas 30+30. Confirm current providers on oklahoma.gov/orec (Approved Basic and Post Courses). Postlicense is a different 45 clock hours, taken after OREC issues the PSA and submitted before the first expiration; a PSA who fails to submit evidence is not entitled to renew (858-302(E)). Military-service rules exist in the Code for that postlicense clock. The 90-hour school final is a school product; it is not the Pearson sitting.

Education or filing deadline

90-hour certificate: 3 years at application (2026 checklist; 59 O.S. § 858-302). Pearson ATT: one year from OREC application approval, unlimited attempts (handbook #093800). PSA itself: one-year provisional; 45-hour postlicense evidence due before that first expiration or the license is not renewable. Three different clocks.

Character review

IdentoGO / OSBI-FBI results plus OREC review of application questions 17–22 (attach court documents). Non-disclosure stalls the ATT. Title 59 §§ 858-301.1 and 858-4000.1 name felony categories that can bar licensure for a stated number of years; OREC will consider a preapproval request before you pay for the 90-hour course. A point-waiver path exists for some broker applicants who lack two years; that is not a PSA character waiver.

Background process

IdentoGO service code 2B7NR3, $60 to IdentoGO. Typical 2–3 business days after live-scan. OREC will not transmit a Pearson ATT without it. Do not reuse a TREC or Arkansas appointment.

Experience

No licensed experience is required for the provisional sales associate license. A sponsoring broker is selected after you pass, in the OREC portal, before issuance fees. Two years of active licensure as a sales associate or PSA (or equivalent) inside the previous five years is the later broker experience clock — not this file.

Broker affiliation

A provisional sales associate practices only under a sponsoring broker, selected in the OREC Application Portal after you pass Pearson. Completing 45 clock hours of Commission-approved postlicense education before the first PSA expiration (59 O.S. § 858-302(E)) is how the provisional status is cured and a sales associate license issues. Broker associate is a different OREC object — an associate who works for a broker, not a full broker. Do not start the 45-hour postlicense before OREC has issued the PSA; schools that say "take it during the 90" are describing a different state's file.

Handbook: approval to test is valid one year from OREC application approval and includes unlimited attempts at each portion. $75 salesperson national, $75 salesperson state; two-for-one when both are on the same order ($75 total) — they need not be the same day or location. State-only retake is $75. Fees are non-refundable and non-transferable except under the change/cancel policy. Payment is not accepted at the test center. Walk-ins are not available. Do not book Pearson before the ATT email. After passing, select a brokerage in the OREC portal and pay issuance; then calendar the 45-hour postlicense before first expiration.

  Booking Pearson before the ATT email

  OREC transmits eligibility. The Pearson Oklahoma page opens with that sentence. Walk-ins do not exist. A $75 charge on a file OREC has not approved is a donation.

  2026 checklist rejects it. Birth certificate or signed U.S. passport. Social Security card is also rejected.

  Letting the 90-hour certificate age past 3 years

  858-302: valid three years from completion; thereafter another 90. The Pearson ATT is a different one-year clock from OREC approval, not from the certificate date.

  Skipping 45-hour postlicense until "CE season"

  858-302(E): evidence before the first PSA expiration or you are not entitled to renew. That is a void, not a late CE audit. Do not start the 45 before the PSA has been issued.

  Studying a 75% cut because Maine or Indiana sit 75

  Oklahoma salesperson is 70% scaled. Broker is 75% scaled. Instructor is 80%. Mixing those three numbers is how people fail a paper they were actually over-trained for, or under-trained.

  Two-for-one is an order-level discount when national and state are in the same cart. A failed-portion retake is $75 for that portion. Unlimited attempts still cost money.

Oklahoma does not publish a 50-state compact this site will copy. Out-of-state sales-associate / broker-associate applicants use the 2026 checklist: license-history certification from every state in which a real estate license has been held, plus 1 hour Oklahoma Broker Relationship Act, 1 hour Oklahoma Code and Rules, and 6 hours Oklahoma Contracts and Forms, plus IdentoGO 2B7NR3, citizenship proof, and $35. Out-of-state broker applicants add the 15-hour Broker in Charge course. A Texas, Arkansas, or Kansas wall hanging is not a waiver of those Oklahoma hours. Nonresidents still designate an Oklahoma resident agent.

Is the first Oklahoma license a salesperson license?

No. Entry is a provisional sales associate (59 O.S. § 858-302). Postlicense education of 45 clock hours before the first expiration is how that status is cured into a sales associate license. Call it a salesperson license on a TREC form and you have the wrong file.

How many prelicense hours?

Ninety clock hours of Commission-approved basic real estate instruction. The 2026 checklist and 858-302 both say 90, and the certificate is valid three years from completion. It is not Texas 180 and not Arkansas 60.

What is on the Pearson sitting, and what does it cost?

Handbook #093800: salesperson national 80 scored + 5 pretest in 150 minutes at 70% scaled; salesperson state 40 scored + 10 pretest in 90 minutes at 70% scaled. Combo two-for-one is $75 when both are on the same order. Broker combo is $90 at 75% scaled. Unlimited attempts inside the one-year OREC authorization. Do not book before the ATT email.

What is IdentoGO code 2B7NR3?

The Oklahoma real-estate fingerprint product. OREC FAQ prices it at $60 paid to IdentoGO. A TREC or Arkansas code will not post. Typical turnaround 2–3 business days after live-scan.

Do I book Pearson before OREC?

No. Apply to OREC first ($35). Pearson emails the ATT after OREC approval. Walk-ins do not exist. The Pearson Oklahoma page says so in the first paragraph.

How old may the 90-hour certificate be?

Completed within the past three years (2026 checklist; 858-302). After three years you take another 90.

Is a driver license proof of citizenship?

No. 2026 checklist: typically a U.S. birth certificate or a signed U.S. passport. A driver license or Social Security card will not be considered.

What does the original cost?

OREC FAQ snapshot: $35 application + $60 IdentoGO + $75 Pearson combo + $100 PSA issuance, plus 90-hour tuition. Application and issuance are sequential, not a single $135 line. Pay the live portal if a row has moved.

When is the 45-hour postlicense due?

59 O.S. § 858-302(E): submit evidence of 45 clock hours of Commission-approved postlicense education prior to the first expiration of the provisional license. Fail and you are not entitled to renew. Do not start the 45 before OREC has issued the PSA. School blogs that say "six months" are describing a provider policy, not the statute's expiration fuse.

What is the passing score?

Salesperson 70% scaled on each portion. Broker 75% scaled. Instructor 80% scaled. That is not Maine's scaled 75, not Indiana's scaled 75, and not a raw 70 of 80.

Can I sit OnVUE from home?

The handbook includes OnVue exam procedures. Confirm live on pearsonvue.com/us/en/ok/realestate.html. A government photo ID matching the Pearson account is still required. Unlimited in-authorization attempts apply to the portion, not to an OnVUE-for-life product the way some states cap remote sits at one.

Does Oklahoma reciprocate with Texas or Arkansas?

Not as a compact this site will copy. Out-of-state applicants use the 2026 checklist: history from every state plus 1+1+6 Oklahoma CE hours (Broker Relationship Act, Code and Rules, Contracts and Forms), still 2B7NR3, still $35. Brokers add 15-hour Broker in Charge.
