Oklahoma Provisional Sales Associate License requirements

Follow these steps in order. Deadlines and affiliation requirements can make a passed exam unusable if they are missed.

   Attempts are unlimited within the one-year authorization. Bring a government photo ID matching your Pearson profile. OnVUE remote testing is available; confirm details with Pearson.

   Pick a sponsoring broker in the OREC portal and pay issuance (FAQ $100 PSA)

   Only then should you start the 45-hour postlicense course. File your evidence before the PSA first expires, or under 858-302(E) you lose the license.

Minimum age

18 years old

Identification

A Social Security number is required. An ITIN is not confirmed as a substitute.

Residency and identification

You must be 18 (59 O.S. § 858-302). The Pearson handbook requires U.S. citizenship or lawful permanent residence. Oklahoma residency is not required; out-of-state applicants designate an Oklahoma resident as registered agent. Under the 2026 checklist, a driver license or Social Security card is not proof of citizenship. Use a U.S. birth certificate, a signed U.S. passport, or another document OREC lists as evidence of citizenship.

Qualifying education

Under 59 O.S. § 858-302 and the 2026 Applicant Checklist, you must show successful completion of ninety (90) clock hours or the equivalent of basic real estate instruction in a Commission-approved course of study. The certificate is valid three (3) years from the completion date; after that, you must complete another 90 hours. This is the Oklahoma Basic (salesperson) prelicense course; Texas's 180 hours, Arkansas's 60, and Kansas's 30+30 do not substitute. Check current providers on oklahoma.gov/orec (Approved Basic and Post Courses). Postlicense is a separate 45 clock hours, taken after OREC issues your PSA and submitted before it first expires; a PSA who fails to submit evidence is not entitled to renew (858-302(E)). The Code includes special rules for military service that affect the postlicense deadline. The 90-hour course ends with a school final exam, which is separate from the Pearson exam.

Education or filing deadline

You need to track three separate deadlines. The 90-hour certificate must be no more than 3 years old when you apply (2026 checklist; 59 O.S. § 858-302). The Pearson ATT is valid one year from OREC application approval, with unlimited attempts (handbook #093800). The PSA itself is a one-year provisional license, and your 45-hour postlicense evidence is due before it first expires, or the license cannot be renewed.

Character review

OREC reviews your IdentoGO / OSBI-FBI results and your answers to application questions 17–22 (attach court documents). Failing to disclose will delay your ATT. Title 59 §§ 858-301.1 and 858-4000.1 list felony categories that can bar licensure for a set number of years; OREC will consider a preapproval request before you pay for the 90-hour course. A point-waiver process exists for some broker applicants who lack two years of experience, but it does not waive character requirements for a PSA.

Background process

IdentoGO service code 2B7NR3, $60 paid to IdentoGO. Results typically take 2–3 business days after your live-scan appointment. OREC will not send your Pearson ATT without them. Do not reuse a TREC or Arkansas appointment.

Experience

No licensed experience is required for the provisional sales associate license. You select a sponsoring broker in the OREC portal after passing, before paying issuance fees. The broker license later requires two years of active licensure as a sales associate or PSA (or equivalent) within the previous five years; that requirement does not apply to this license.

Broker affiliation

A provisional sales associate may practice only under a sponsoring broker, whom you select in the OREC Application Portal after passing the Pearson exam. Completing 45 clock hours of Commission-approved postlicense education before your PSA first expires (59 O.S. § 858-302(E)) converts your provisional status to a sales associate license. A broker associate is a different OREC license: an associate who works for a broker, not a full broker. Do not start the 45-hour postlicense course before OREC has issued your PSA; schools that suggest taking it alongside the 90 hours are describing another state's rules.

Per the handbook, your approval to test is valid one year from OREC application approval and includes unlimited attempts at each portion. The salesperson national exam is $75 and the state exam is $75; when both are on the same order, they cost $75 total, and you do not have to take them on the same day or at the same location. A state-only retake is $75. Fees are non-refundable and non-transferable except under the change/cancel policy. Payment is not accepted at the test center, and walk-ins are not available. Do not book with Pearson before you receive the ATT email. After passing, select a brokerage in the OREC portal and pay the issuance fee, then plan to complete the 45-hour postlicense course before your first expiration.

Per the 2026 Applicant Checklist, the application processing fee is $35, paid to OREC. Per the OREC FAQ: IdentoGO $60.00, paid to IdentoGO; full salesperson exam $75.00 with the booking discount (state-only is also $75); and license issuance after passing, currently PSA $100, sales associate $215, broker associate $260, broker $295. The application and initialLicense amounts are paid at different times, not as a single $135 charge: $35 when you apply and $100 at issuance after passing. The Pearson two-for-one price applies to a single order and does not cover retakes of a failed portion. The 45-hour postlicense course is required education, not CE. If the FAQ amounts have changed, pay what the portal shows.

  Booking Pearson before the ATT email

  OREC sends your eligibility to Pearson, as the first sentence of the Pearson Oklahoma page states. Walk-ins are not accepted. If you pay $75 before OREC has approved your application, you will lose it.

  Using the wrong IdentoGO code

  2B7NR3 is the Oklahoma real estate code. TREC packets, Arkansas appointments, and old Kansas prints will not be accepted. Per the FAQ, you pay $60 to IdentoGO.

  Uploading a driver license as citizenship

  The 2026 checklist does not accept it, and it does not accept a Social Security card either. Use a birth certificate or signed U.S. passport.

  Letting the 90-hour certificate age past 3 years

  Under 858-302, the certificate is valid three years from completion; after that, you must take another 90 hours. The Pearson ATT is a separate one-year period that starts at OREC approval, not at the certificate date.

  Skipping 45-hour postlicense until "CE season"

  Under 858-302(E), you must file evidence before the PSA first expires or you are not entitled to renew. This ends your license; it is not a late CE issue. Do not start the 45 hours before the PSA has been issued.

  Studying a 75% cut because Maine or Indiana sit 75

  The Oklahoma salesperson cut is 70% scaled, the broker cut is 75% scaled, and the instructor cut is 80%. Confusing these can leave you over- or under-prepared.

  Treating the $75 combo as two sittings prepaid forever

  The two-for-one price applies only when the national and state exams are on the same order. Retaking a failed portion costs $75 for that portion. Attempts are unlimited, but each one costs money.

  Calling the first license a salesperson license and filing a TREC SAE story

  Oklahoma's first license is a provisional sales associate license, with a 90-hour Oklahoma course and a 45-hour postlicense requirement. Texas's 180 hours and 270 SAE hours do not apply.

Oklahoma does not publish a list of reciprocal states. Out-of-state applicants for sales associate or broker associate licenses follow the 2026 checklist: a license-history certification from every state in which you have held a real estate license, plus 1 hour Oklahoma Broker Relationship Act, 1 hour Oklahoma Code and Rules, and 6 hours Oklahoma Contracts and Forms, along with IdentoGO 2B7NR3, citizenship proof, and $35. Out-of-state broker applicants also take the 15-hour Broker in Charge course. A Texas, Arkansas, or Kansas license does not waive these Oklahoma hours. Nonresidents must still designate an Oklahoma resident agent.

Oklahoma vs neighboring states

Hours are the pre-license total printed in each guide; states that count credits or named courses show “See guide.” Published state fees add the application, exam, initial-license, and fingerprint amounts the guide can cite — tuition is not included.

Is the first Oklahoma license a salesperson license?

No. Your first license is a provisional sales associate license (59 O.S. § 858-302). Completing 45 clock hours of postlicense education before it first expires converts it to a sales associate license. Forms and guidance written for Texas salesperson licenses do not apply.

How many prelicense hours?

Per Handbook #093800: the salesperson national exam has 80 scored + 5 pretest items in 150 minutes at 70% scaled, and the salesperson state exam has 40 scored + 10 pretest items in 90 minutes at 70% scaled. Both together cost $75 when booked on the same order. The broker combination is $90 at 75% scaled. Attempts are unlimited within the one-year OREC authorization. What is IdentoGO code 2B7NR3?

It is the IdentoGO service code for Oklahoma real estate fingerprinting. Per the OREC FAQ, it costs $60, paid to IdentoGO. A TREC or Arkansas code will not be accepted. Results typically take 2–3 business days after your live-scan appointment.

Do I book Pearson before OREC?

No. Apply to OREC first ($35). Pearson emails your ATT after OREC approves you. Walk-ins are not accepted, as the Pearson Oklahoma page states in its first paragraph.

How old may the 90-hour certificate be?

Is a driver license proof of citizenship?

When is the 45-hour postlicense due?

Under 59 O.S. § 858-302(E), you must submit evidence of 45 clock hours of Commission-approved postlicense education prior to the first expiration of the provisional license. If you do not, you are not entitled to renew. Do not start the 45 hours before OREC has issued your PSA. Schools that mention a "six months" deadline are describing their own policy, not the statutory deadline, which is tied to the license expiration.

What is the passing score?

Salesperson candidates need 70% scaled on each portion; brokers need 75% scaled; instructors need 80% scaled. Unlike Maine and Indiana, which use a scaled 75 for salespersons, Oklahoma uses 70, and it is not a raw 70 of 80.

Can I sit OnVUE from home?

The handbook includes OnVUE exam procedures; confirm current availability at pearsonvue.com/us/en/ok/realestate.html. You still need a government photo ID matching your Pearson account. Unlimited attempts within the authorization apply to each portion; the handbook does not describe a limit on remote attempts like some states impose.

Does Oklahoma reciprocate with Texas or Arkansas?

Not through a formal reciprocity agreement. Out-of-state applicants follow the 2026 checklist: license history from every state, plus 1+1+6 Oklahoma CE hours (Broker Relationship Act, Code and Rules, Contracts and Forms), IdentoGO 2B7NR3, and the $35 fee. Broker applicants also take the 15-hour Broker in Charge course.

Where do I sit?

The handbook back cover lists Oklahoma City, Tulsa (Pearson Professional Center and Tulsa Community College), Norman, Lawton (Great Plains), Stillwater (OSU), Weatherford (SWOSU), and Goodwell (OPSU). Confirm current locations with Pearson. Texas (TREC) test centers and Arkansas Pearson appointments use different handbooks and will not work.
