Pearson VUE delivers the exam under Candidate Handbook #091700 (April 2025, rev7/25) and content outlines #091705 (04/2025). Per KREC's Pre-License Education page, you take the 30-hour Principles of Real Estate (expires 12 months from the course date) before Pearson, then the 30-hour Kansas Practice Course (application and certificate within six months of the course date). According to KREC's FAQ, salesperson applicants pay $210 to the Commission ($15 + $70 + $125) and $70 to Pearson when both portions are scheduled together.

Pearson's exam has 80 national scored items in 2.5 hours and 30 Kansas scored items in 1.5 hours, each requiring a scaled 70, for $70 combined. Both passing scores and the complete application must reach KREC within six months of the earlier pass date. A new salesperson must affiliate with a supervising broker; the license cannot issue inactive. CE is 12 hours, including 3 hours of Kansas Required Core; renewal is $125 every 2 years. Fingerprints: Pearson digital prints cost $16 at Overland Park, Topeka, and Wichita, or you can use law-enforcement LiveScan or a fingerprint card. The background report expires after 6 months.

The broker license requires the named Fundamentals and Management courses (or Kansas Law and Management for out-of-state applicants), transaction points, a 40-item Kansas exam portion, and a $175 license fee. Missouri's 48 hours plus MREP, Nebraska's 96 hours, Colorado's 168 associate-broker hours, and Oklahoma's 90-hour provisional license are useful for comparison, but Kansas has its own rules: the PL number comes first, the Practice Course must be within six months of your application, BRRETA is 11 of 30 Kansas items, and the Recovery Fund pays only on a district-court order.
