The Idaho Real Estate Commission is part of the Division of Occupational and Professional Licenses at 11341 W. Chinden Blvd., Building 4, Boise, ID 83714, with offices in Coeur d'Alene and Blackfoot. Pearson VUE delivers the exam under Candidate Handbook #091300 (July 2024) at pearsonvue.com/us/en/id/realestate.html, (877) 540-5833. IREC's education-applicants page sets the hour requirement: Salesperson Prelicense Module 1 (45 hours, fundamental concepts) plus Module 2 (45 hours, listing/selling/buying/closing), 90 hours total, with 100% attendance and 70% finals. You can take them live, by Zoom, or self-paced, and both must fall within three years of the application date. A Nevada 120-hour or Utah sales agent certificate does not substitute.

Pearson gives 80 national items in 150 minutes and 40 Idaho-law items in 90 minutes, scaled 70 to pass, for $83 for the combined 4-hour appointment. The exam also includes 5 national pretest items and 5–10 state pretest items. If you fail one section, retake it within one year of passing the other, and file the completed application within one year of your first pass, or take both again. Fingerprints are a separate Pearson reservation (electronic at Boise / Pocatello / Spokane Valley; not at Nampa). Results are valid six months, and no clearance notice is mailed. The IREC Fees page effective January 1, 2026 lists the original license at $135 and renewal at $0 during the announced fee holiday; original license fees are not waived. Idaho Code § 54-2070 still requires a $20 recovery-fund fee on the original license and each two-year renewal. E&O is through Rice or independent coverage on REE141.

Your first active salesperson renewal requires two different Commission Core courses plus named post-license courses (8-hour Post License Fundamentals and one 4-hour module). Later renewals replace the 12 post-license hours with 12 electives. The associate broker license requires a different 90 hours: Brokerage Management 28 + Real Estate Law 30 + two listed electives, live or Zoom only, then the $83 Pearson exam at scaled 75 on 80 national + 50 state items. A designated broker also needs BCOO (or Management in its place) and office paperwork. Washington's 90 hours, Oregon's 150, Nevada's 120, and Wyoming's named salesperson courses are useful comparisons, but they do not meet Idaho's requirements.
