PSI delivers the exam under Candidate Information Bulletin 1001 (test-takers.psiexams.com/ohre; (855) 834-8749; 7/1/2026). The Division's salesperson requirements page sets the education requirement at 40+40+10+10 hours, and the HB 238 FAQ confirms the change took effect April 9, 2025. Guides from 2024 that still list 120 hours predate it.

PSI gives 80 national items in 120 minutes at 70% and 40 Ohio items in 60 minutes at 70%, for $66 combined. The broker signs your application before the superintendent admits you to the exam. The application fee is $81, and fingerprints are due within 10 days. You must pass both portions within 12 months of the CIB label date. After licensing, you have 12 months to complete a 20-hour post-license course, or the statute suspends and then revokes your license. Your first licensing year ends on your next birthday; after that, you need 30 hours of CE every three birthdays.

The broker license requires two of five years as an Ohio salesperson, 20 counted transactions, 120 hours of named courses including four business courses, a $135 fee, and PSI at 75%. Indiana's broker-entry title, Kentucky's 96-hour sales associate license, Pennsylvania's 75 hours, and Michigan's 40 hours including civil rights are useful comparisons, but Ohio's rules are its own: the broker signs first, the cut score is 70 for salespersons and 75 for brokers, and missing the 20-hour post-license deadline leads to suspension and then revocation.
